Phrasal verb: Put Off

Si la semana pasada aprendíamos que Call Off es Cancelar, esta semana aprenderemos el verbo favorito de los Procrastinators: Put OFF.

Recordemos que la preposición le cambiará totalmente el significado al verbo y no tendrá nada que ver con “poner”…. ¿o si?

Put : Poner

Put OFF = Posponer

My students keep putting off their homework.

Put SOMEBODY OFF (1)= Desalentar

I don’t want to PUT YOU OFF but that house you’re about to buy is just not worth it.

Put SOMEBODY OFF (2)= Causar rechazo, echar para atrás
